Fingertips

Fingertips to fingertips.
Is this your pulse or my pulse or ours?
I can feel my body dip,
From the weight of the world and the hour.
Your breath on my neck
And your heartbeat on my back keeps me alive.
When I’m coming down.
This house of cards is bound to crash
And we’re all saving face.
You draw me back out of the deck.
You cannot be replaced.
Once more around the room,
before I settled in.
But if I thought that you might take that lap,
I’d crawl out of my skin.
But I’d come back down.
Moments without you drag to days.
And the blood turns to smoke in my veins.
But when the ghost gets out at night,
You go to ground, ‘cause you’re alright.
But in the dark dawn you’ll be there to pull me down.
So put your faith in me, my love
And we won’t bust, this round.
My words might not hold water,
But we can run this town.
Seven years of bad luck,
Since I shattered that black mirror,
But I’ve collected all those pieces.
You’ve got nothing left to fear.
Can we settle down?
Fingertips to fingertips.
Is this your pulse or my pulse or ours?

Neon Wolf
03:44
|
|||
Oh when the big, bad, neon wolf comes howling,
Time to bar your doors
And when the big bad neon wolf comes howling,
Time to hit the floor.
And if the Big Bad Neon Wolf get’s in,
You’d better run, better run, better run.
He’ll chase you down and eat your heart,
He’ll green your eyes, tear you apart.
If his hide is made of shopping malls,
And his teeth are made of knives,
Then his claws are infomercials on your TV late at night.
And he’ll stalk you through your radio,
He’s hiding just around the bend.
You can’t escape this Neon Wolf,
He’s going to get you in the end.
Silver bullets can’t stop me,
Can’t stop me,
Can’t stop me.
Silver bullets won’t stop me,
No, I’m a NEON WOLF.
Silver bullets can’t stop me,
Can’t stop me,
Can’t stop me,
Silver bullets won’t stop me,
No, I’m a NEON WOLF.

REALMS
05:02
|
|||
The car broke down
Six hundred million years ago
And you’d think
That I’d be getting tired of you
And these places by now.
But I knew when
We started walking east, back then
That it was right.
I could feel it in my bones
And in my soul.
We dragged our bags
For months, and miles, and years.
Until we didn’t care.
Until the clothes blew off our backs.
They turned to dust
And it got cold.
We built a house from sticks and stones,
Grass, mud and bones,
Blood, sweat and tears.
We settled down to wait it out.
We knew that we’d be gone in spring
But I asked where
And you said:
***Can we take the longest way back home?
Yes we can. Yes we can.
‘Cause we’ve been lost out in these realms
Oh so long, oh yes we have
But there’s still so much left to see.
Yes there is. Yes there is.
Can we take the longest way back home?
Yes we can. Yes we can.
And when that winter died
We buried him in clay.
We sank him deep.
We burned our house.
Turned it to ash and rambled on.
We climbed the highest mountain
We could find
And fought the Neon Wolf.
We threw his colors in the sky
We watched them dance
And you said:
***
And when you took my hand you saved my life.
I never want to be without your light.
And it ain’t perfect, we still fuss and fight.
I’d gladly die beside you in good time.
***
Longest way back home…
Longest way back home…

Little Taste
04:26
|
|||
Creatures of the night, we might be.
In the dark we do our terrible deeds.
Ice & snow don’t make for much fun.
When the big thaw comes we,
Worship the sun.
Worship the sun.
Worship the sun.
Worship the sun!
You can try to run South for a little while.
Your body’s promised to the night but you’d still love to
Watch that pale, white skin turn gold.
And you might think that we forgot about that wicked smile.
But don’t hold your breath. This contract’s written on your bones.
***Get a little taste of that sunshine.
It’s time for you to make good.
We struck a deal with your bloodline.
But they misunderstood.
Go tie your ghost to the clothesline.
And say goodbye to this neighborhood.
Have another sip of that moonshine.
Take 1! Take 2! Take a little taste!
You can try to hide out for a little while.
Pray to the sun and he might fight to keep that
Pretty, little body from the cold.
But when your heart beats hard staccato it’s about to blow.
Come die with us, bound to your bedpost, all alone.
***
There’s a hard conviction in those bloodshot eyes.
You’d be well advised to let it die.
Embrace the new restrictions on.
Your life, your love, your skeleton.
It’s a long haul back to where you’re from.
***
Take one! Take two! Take a little taste!
Spit-shine brass and carve a new throne.
Let the roads dry up. We’ll never leave home.
Go find god wherever you can
But you were born in black light.
Worship the sun.
Worship the sun.
Worship the sun…
